Brussels Environment: Noise Remains a Problem

01/10/2025

In a summary report (October 2025) based on measurements taken in June 2025 on Avenue de Broqueville, Brussels Environment confirms that noise pollution from the metro remains a problem.

The conclusions are clear:

  • Vibrations still exceed the thresholds, both day and night, and remain perceptible.
  • At night, the situation is not improving: approximately a quarter of train passages still exceed the threshold value for structure-borne noise (almost identical to 2023).
  • STIB (Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company) must maintain measures to reduce noise and vibration pollution.
