Map

The noise and vibrations from the STIB-MIVB metro affect the residents along lines 1 and 5, spread across half of Brussels' municipalities: Anderlecht, Auderghem, Brussels City, Etterbeek, Koekelberg, Molenbeek, Woluwe-Saint-Lambert and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. If the M7 trains continue to be deployed on lines 2 and 6, two-thirds of Brussels' municipalities would be impacted.

Thanks to our interactive map, you can view a simulation of the areas affected along the metro network.

Although this simulation cannot account for all parameters (such as soil composition that can dampen vibration or the proximity of curved track sections that can amplify them), it provides an overall view of the problem. The disturbances are not limited to a few isolated complaints: they affect thousands of people in Brussels.

The map and the estimation are based on official sources:

  • Metro lines and stops: Good Move Observatory
  • Population data: StatBel
  • Addresses of affected residents: complaints to IBGE, Ombudsman and Justice of the Peace

If you too are affected by the noise and vibrations from the metro, take action and make your voice heard.
